Sociology is introduced as an elective subject at Higher Secondary Education. This subject studies the processes and patterns of individual and group interaction, the forms of organization of social groups, the relationships among them, and group influences on individual behaviour. lt has focused on the understanding of group or other collective factors in human behavior. This syllabus is designed to help the learners to know about society and develop a constructive attitude towards different facets of life.
Objectives:
- To enable learners to relate classroom teaching to their outside environment,
- To introduce them to the basic concepts of sociology that would enable them to observe and interpret social life,
- To make them aware of the complexity of social processes.
- The overall objective of this syllabus is to provide learners with knowledge and understanding of the main sociological theories, concepts, and methods.
